2 Timothy 1:5.6 I remember your true faith. That kind of faith first belonged to your grandmother Lois and to your mother Eunice. I know you now have that same faith. That is why I want you to remember the gift God gave you. God gave you that gift when I laid my hands on you. Now I want you to use that gift and let it grow more and more, like a small flame grows into a fire.

Here’s an awkward question: If you’re someone who believes in Jesus, how do you know that your faith in Him is real? Because there are those days when your faith seems pretty feeble, right?

And look, those days come to all of us, me included. Perhaps that’s a strange admission for a preacher to make, but it’s true. And the joy in that for me is remembering that things don’t depend on the size my faith – a mustard seed of faith is all Jesus asks for.

That being said, there’s something that you and I can do which helps dispel any doubt, which leads us forward victoriously into God’s plan for our lives. Here again is the wise old Apostle Paul writing to young Timothy:

2 Timothy 1:5,6 I remember your true faith.

In short, faith without works is dead. That’s why God wants you to remember the gift that He’s given you – that unique ability, that one thing that you can do better than just about anyone else you know. Because as you exercise that gift, blessing others with it for His glory, that small flame of faith will turn into a raging fire.

Don’t forget to use the gift that God’s given you!

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
