John 7:37,38 Whoever is thirsty may come to me and drink. If anyone believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from their heart. That is what the Scriptures say.

We often put on a brave face, you and I, even when things on the inside – deep in our hearts where we live – aren’t going the way they should be. So today we’re going to dive deep below the surface, because, with all my heart, I believe God has something for you today.

I don’t know if this ever happens to you, but sometimes it’s easy to feel as though you’re running out of steam – like you have nothing left, no energy, no reserves, to draw on.

We’ve all been there. Whatever it is that we do in life, at home or at work, we give and we give and we give … and little by little it saps our energy.

All that giving drains the life out of us, and even if you have a holiday to recharge your batteries, somehow emotionally – even spiritually – there can still be a tiredness and an emptiness, a sense that “Well, I’m not sure that I have a whole bunch more that I can give,” even though the world around you, the people around you, are demanding more and more.

You’re a mother with some difficult teenagers, and a job to juggle. Or a father who sees himself as the “bread winner” and you’ve been grinding away at your job for what seems like an eternity. And you’re just tired. You’ve had enough.

You wake up and the river has just run dry. There’s just nothing left to give. And yet, believe it or not, God gets that … totally … and He has the solution for you. Jesus put it like this:

John 7:37,38
Whoever is thirsty may come to me and drink. If anyone believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from their heart. That is what the Scriptures say.

The answer isn’t berating yourself for being weak-willed. The answer isn’t working harder and running on empty. The answer is Jesus.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
