Matthew 8:2,3 Then a man sick with leprosy came to him. The man bowed down before Jesus and said, “Lord, you have the power to heal me if you want.” Jesus touched the man. He said, “I want to heal you. Be healed!” Immediately the man was healed from his leprosy.

So let me ask you … what’s the single, most powerful thing that you can ever do for someone else? What would touch their heart more than just about anything else that you could do? Do you know what it is?

I was recently at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. It’s one of the busiest airports in the world. The place is so big that it’s like a city in itself. In fact, it pumps billions of dollars into the US economy each year, just this one airport!

So the sheer volume of people being processed through airline queues and security queues, rushing to make their flight, means that the staff just have to rush and process you. They’ve even automated some of it.

So I was checking in for my flight and now, instead of people, they have touch screens and passport scanners. I couldn’t figure out how to work the darned thing, but all the staff seemed way too busy to help –  until one check-in agent saw me struggling, smiled, came over and showed me how. She clearly stood out from the crowd. I was so thankful.

That leper was an untouchable. Literally, it was against the law for there to be any physical contact between someone who had leprosy and someone who didn’t. So what did Jesus do?

Jesus touched the man.

It turns out that simply helping someone in need – stumping up, meeting them where they’re at and reaching out to them – is one of the most powerful things you can ever do.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Fresh is the first thing I listen to/read when I get up. It really helps me get “set” for my day.
