Mark 2:4,5 But they could not get the man inside to Jesus because the house was so full of people. So they went to the roof above Jesus and made a hole in it. Then they lowered the mat with the paralysed man on it. When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the paralysed man, “Young man, your sins are forgiven.”

The idea of actually having a personal one-on-one relationship with Jesus, for many, is an anathema. How could that possibly work? If each one of the 2 billion plus Christians on the planet wanted a personal relationship with Him, how would He make the space? How would He make the time?

Have you ever sat in a church packed with so many people, in a sense crowding around God, that you start wondering, “Is there any room here for me or are all these other people more important to Him?”

I remember the first time I stepped inside a church after giving my life to Jesus. It was just a little one, mind you – thirty or so people –  and yet I remember feeling so intimidated.

They all knew the words to the songs and how to pray. They knew the jargon – the Christianese if you will. But me, I knew absolutely nothing. Surely there was no room for me here.

There was a time when Jesus was surrounded by huge crowds and some men had a friend who was paralysed, who couldn’t walk. They wanted to bring him to Jesus to be healed …

Mark 2:4 But they could not get the man inside to Jesus because the house was so full of people. So they went to the roof above Jesus and made a hole in it. Then they lowered the mat with the paralysed man on it.

Now, ripping a hole in the roof above the hotshot preacher is a pretty extreme way of getting His attention, wouldn’t you agree? So how did Jesus react?

Mark 2:5 When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the paralysed man, “Young man, your sins are forgiven.”

Was Jesus annoyed? No! He was amazed and impressed by their faith, so He healed the man.

You see, with Jesus there’s always room for just one more.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
