Genesis 9:16,17 When I look and see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the agreement that continues forever. I will remember the agreement between me and every living thing on the earth.” So God said to Noah, “This rainbow is proof of the agreement that I made with all living things on earth.”

When you’re in the middle of one of life’s storms, hanging onto God’s promises, remembering God’s goodness, having faith in God’s faithfulness … well, that’s just not an easy thing to do.

One of the most beautiful sights in all creation is a rainbow.

The thing that makes it so beautiful is that this splash of light and colour is painted on a background of dark storm clouds. The point is, if you want a rainbow, you have to put up with the rain!

I don’t know why God sometimes allows dark storms to ravage our lives, but He does. And then one day He splashes His light across that dark background – a light that’s so much brighter, colours that are so much richer – into the darkness of the storm.

Noah and his family had been in their ark with all those animals for forty days and forty nights. It must have been a terrible time of storms and rain. But as that time came to an end, God said this:

Genesis 9:16,17 When I look and see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the agreement that continues forever. I will remember the agreement between me and every living thing on the earth.” So God said to Noah, “This rainbow is proof of the agreement that I made with all living things on earth.”

That rainbow was a sign of God’s promise that He would never flood the whole earth again.

Just when the storm stops, while the earth is still fresh from the rain, that rainbow arches its way across our sky. And right in that moment there’s a beauty, an experience, that defies description. A moment that would have been nothing, but for the storm.

Maybe that’s what storms are for.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Amazing; another beautiful amazing Gods creation for me is Snow the magic of the crystals and the way they descend to earth out of the clouds cleansing and refreshing as it does so, and the very feel of it and the countryside covered in a beautiful white blanket is my most favourite thing of all that God created. Its It’s a blessing from God for me .
God bless Marie Seymour
