Mark 10:51,52 Jesus asked the man, “What do you want me to do for you?” He answered, “Teacher, I want to see again.” Jesus said, “Go. You are healed because you believed.” Immediately the man was able to see again. He followed Jesus down the road.

Here’s a scary thought. How much time do you spend plugged into your technology … and how much time do you actually spend plugged into people? These days, the answer to that question for many people is a scary thing.

I do much of my work pecking away at a keyboard in my study. It’s a great work space; quiet, comfortable, looking out over some big old trees.

But as I leant back to clear my head the other morning, what I saw shocked me. There were six communication devices on my desk. My smartphone, home phone, work phone, computer, the tablet device that has my Bibles and library and a whole bunch of other things on it, and my smart-watch that measures my exercise and mobility and apparently also tells the time.

Unreal! A quick video conference to Paris or Hyderabad … no problem. It’s just so easy these days because we live in the most technologically connected time in all of history, with any piece of information we need right there at our fingertips. And yet in many respects, the more technology we have, the less we actually end up communicating. The more emails you have to answer, the less time you spend catching up with a friend over coffee, or meeting someone face to face, or just calling someone out of the blue to say “Hi, how’re you going?”

Mark 10:51,52
Jesus asked the man, “What do you want me to do for you?” He answered, “Teacher, I want to see again.” Jesus said, “Go. You are healed because you believed.” Immediately the man was able to see again. He followed Jesus down the road.

That miracle happened because Jesus was out there amongst the people and He asked the man a question.

I wonder whether there isn’t something in that.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
